Baseball
Griff McGarry ’17 is off to a 2-1 start with a save as a right-handed pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies Triple-A affiliate Lehigh Valley. McGarry had a 3.75 ERA in 12 innings during the Arizona Fall League and was named to the All-Star Game in November. … Ben Somorjai ’17, a Haverford alum and former hitting coach as well as McGarry’s former battery mate, was hired by the New York Yankees organization as a hitting coach.
Men’s Cross Country
Aiden Deffner ’23 started his sophomore season as Johns Hopkins’ fifth finisher at the Haverford Main Line Invitational and then helped the Blue Jays at the conference championship with a 10th-place finish. Hopkins finished 14th at the NCAA Div. III Championships. … Cal sophomore Justin Pretre ’23 ran in four meets, posting a time of 31:21.2 in the 10K race at the NCAA West Regionals and setting a personal record at the ACC Championships with an 8K time of 23:54.3.

Women’s Cross Country
Kyra Pretre ’20, who graduated from Yale in May, made her Texas debut at the Stormy Seas Opener 5K, finishing in 17:41.6. The grad student finished the 6K at the Wisconsin Pre- Nationals in 21:28.5 before helping UT finish fifth at the SEC Championships after running the 6K in a personal-best 20:32.6. … Duke graduate Charlotte Tomkinson ’20 ran her first season as a grad student for Georgetown and took 16th overall with a time of 20:22.2 at the Mid-Atlantic Regional. Tomkinson earned Second-Team All-Big-East honors and was the Hoyas’ fifth finisher at the NCAA Championships.

Football
Jaden Richardson ’20, a grad student at USC, played in three games, including the Las Vegas Bowl (a 35-31 win over Texas A&M), in his first season with the Trojans. … Junior receiver Ben Banatao ’22 played in five games for Trinity, which went 7-2.

… Despite missing two games due to injury, junior quarterback-turned-receiver Sergio Beltran ’22 finished the season with 37 carries for 239 yards and two touchdowns, with his 6.5 yards per carry the second-best mark in the conference. Beltran also caught 20 passes for 257 yards and three touchdowns for the year and was named Second-Team All-NESCAC and All-Academic.
… Tyler Flynn ’22 tallied 253 yards in 61 carries for three touchdowns as Wesleyan (8-1) won its first NESCAC Championship in program history. … Amherst junior wide receiver Carter Jung ’22 made 33 receptions for 328 yards and had 24 kick-off returns for 619 yards. Jung was named All-District Academic.

… In 13 games, Johns Hopkins sophomore receiver Robby Enright ’23 hauled in 21 receptions for 368 yards and three touchdowns, helping the Blue Jays (12-2) advance to the NCAA Div. III Semifinals. … As a sophomore kicker for Washington-St.Louis (8-2), Ross Muchnick ’23 made five of five field goals, the longest being 34 yards, and was 45 of 48 on PATs. … Tufts sophomore cornerback Ty Richardson ’23 was selected as an Associated Press Div. III All-American, the third Jumbos player in program history. Richardson finished the 2024 season with a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC)-leading six interceptions and totaling 116 return yards. … Sophomore defensive lineman Avery Romain ’23 posted nine tackles in eight games for Amherst.
Men’s Soccer
Wrapping up a four-year career, Nico Monsalve ’20 was a starting defensive midfielder for Harvey Mudd, which went 16-4-3 and advanced to the NCAA Div. III Round of 16. … Senior defender Christian Corcoran ’21 had three goals and four assists his senior season at Occidental, closing a four-year career during which he started 43 of 61 games.

… Freshman forward Andre Gonzalez Lombera ’24 tallied six goals and eight assists, starting all 31 games, and was named Offensive MVP for De Anza College, which advanced to the conference final. … Freshman midfielder Alessandro Velazquez ’24 posted six goals (including three game-winners), had three assists, and was named De Anza Rookie of the Year.

Volleyball
Johns Hopkins senior defensive specialist and outside hitter Roxy Karrer ’21 closed a four-year career with a trip to the NCAA Div. III semifinals and a 33-3 season record. As a sophomore, she was named to the All-Centennial Conference Team. She ranked second on the team in aces (43) and sixth in digs (176) in her final season and placed tenth in JHU history with 163 career aces.

… Blue Jays teammate Simone Adam ’22 is a two-time American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American, making the first team as a junior. The outside hitter was selected Centennial Conference Player of the Year after she led Johns Hopkins in kills (417) while hitting .353. She ranks ninth all-time for Hopkins with 1,102 career kills. Hopkins went 10-0 in winning the conference title, and Karrer and Adam were named to the regional all-academic team. … Skidmore junior middle hitter Jazlin Chen ’22 was named All-Liberty League Second Team and Academic Team. She led the team in kills (205) and posted a team-high 74 blocks.
… Boston College junior setter Hanna Hoffman ’22 appeared in six matches, including a homecoming at Stanford, for the Eagles. … Junior outside hitter/defensive specialist Kami Israelski ’22 had 47 aces and 190 digs in 24 matches for Williams, which finished the season 13-11. … Defensive specialist/libero Alli McKenney ’22 posted 90 digs and 19 aces in 26 matches for Colby, which advanced to the NCAA Div. III second round. Colby finished with an overall record of 24-3 and a perfect conference mark of 10-0.
… Freshman right-side hitter Aaliyah Sanders ’24 played in four matches for Chapman, which finished with a 12-16 overall record. … Logan Wilson ’24 recorded 65 kills, 36 blocks, and 15 aces, playing in all 22 matches as a first-year middle hitter for Wellesley (13-9).
Men’s Water Polo
Liam (Noah) Housenbold ’20 wrapped up a four-year career as a center for Johns Hopkins. He notched seven goals and five steals, playing in 26 matches his senior season. … Junior goalie Zayd Mahmoud ’21 made 111 saves with a .505 save percentage and had seven assists for UC Irvine, which advanced to the Big West Championship.
… Jack Murad ’21 posted six goals as a junior center defender for Bucknell. … Ethan Babel ’23 landed 52 assists, 15 goals, and 21 steals in 35 games as a sophomore attack for Johns Hopkins. … Sophomore attack Jackson Kay ’23 had 13 games and two assists in 27 games for MIT, which took third in the USA Water Polo Div. III Tournament.
… Redshirt freshman Tommy Kiesling ’23 had a successful debut season for UC Davis: he was named part of the Big West All-Freshman Team and led the Aggies in goals with 51. Kiesling also added 13 assists and nine steals for the Ags, who ended their season in the Big West semifinal.
